Last Sunday at 1:25 p.m. the death angle came and ushered in to eternity the soul of another one of Madison's Civil War veterans, in the person of James B. Sprinkle.
Mr. Sprinkle had been having ill health for quite a while and fought persistently for recovery until the very last moment. ...
For twenty-five years or more, he had served in the capacity of Deacon of the Baptist Church at California Creek and Mars Hill, having moved from Mars Hill about the first of the year.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, two daughters, and one brother. The sons are A.F. Sprinkle, of Mars Hill, Ambrose and Zade Sprinkle, of Marshall, with whom he spent his last days. The daughters are Mrs. Wiley Carter, of Asheville, and Mrs. C.E. Mumpower, of Denver, Colorado. The last of the brothers W.C. Sprinkle, of Marshall. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. Sprinkle of Gabriel's creek, on Monday, June 1.
