Miss Gilmer, daughter of the late ex-Secretary Gilmer, who was a member of President Tyler’s Cabinet, died a few days ago at the Louise Home, but the fact has been kept from the public mention. Miss Gilmer was in middle life, but her life has been one devoted to charity. After the death of her father, the Gilmer family removed to Virginia, but in the last few years Miss Gilmer found a home here. Her father met his death by the explosion of a cannon on board the Princeton in the forties.
