Mrs. Maggie Collier, 55 years old, died at 9:15 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Smith, near McAfee, Wednesday, July 12, 1939, after a decline in health for two years. She was the daughter of Daniel and Rachel Semonis Carey and was born and reared in Mercer county. Her husband the late Demetrius Collier, died 21 years ago and she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William Smith McAfee; Mrs. Mary Murphey and Mrs. Vallie Collier, of Rose Hill, and three sons, Earl Collier, Perryville; Everett and Morris Collier, of Rose Hill, and she also leaves six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. L. R. Adkinson, Rose Hill, and Mrs. John Taylor, Harrodsburg, and one brother, James Carey of Danville. She was a member of Bruner's Chapel Baptist church, and her funeral was conducted by her pastor, the Rev. George B. Trout, at Bethel Presbyterian church, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and burial was in Bethel cemetery. The Rev. L. E. Curry, of Georgetown, assisted in the funeral service. Bearers were Will Carey, Sam and Bud McCrystal, Gilbert Smith, Walter Williams and James Dismukes.
