Mrs. Mattie James
Mrs. Mattie James, 82 years old, of Route 2, died Sunday in a Cape Girardeau hospital where she had been a patient 10 days.
The body is at Ford and Sons Funeral Home. It will be removed at noon Tuesday to Centenary Methodist Church where the Rev. J. Ray Trotter will conduct services at 2 in the afternoon. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. James. They are Glenn Priest and John L. Franklin, Donald, Earl and Joe James.
A lifelong resident of Cape County, Mrs. James was born May 22, 1882, near Jackson, the daughter of Frank and Ella Caldwell Goza. She was married Aug. 21, 1902, in Cape County to John L. James, who died in 1940. She belonged to Centenary Church and the Campster Welfare Club.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Earl Priest of Gordonville; a brother and a sister, Grover Goza and Mrs. Ada Schwab of Cape Girardeau, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A son, John F. James, died July 13, 1963.
