She was a native of Jackson County but had resided in Haywood County for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan and Etta May Parris Freeman; a daughter, Sharon Elaine Tilley Cordell; and one brother, Willis Freeman. She was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church and had a strong spiritual faith.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Spencer Tilley; one daughter, Anita Burris and her husband, Eddie of Canton; three sons, Kerry Tilley and his wife Kim, of Waynesville, Doug Tilley and his wife, Carolyn, of Charmco, WV, and Tony Tilley and his wife, Ginger, of Canton; two sisters, Shirley Ruff of Clover and Betty Murray and her husband, Dennie, of Canton; one brother, Jimmy Freeman, and his wife, Joyce, of Waynesville; nine grandchildren, Jason, April, Heather, Brooke, Heath, Brent, Paige, Austin and Jesse and four great-grandchildren, Camden, Gracie, Reece and Savannah.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Larry Nicks and Reverend James Franklin Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 pm Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
