Mary Trimbor Ditter was born to John Joseph and Barbara Bourgois Trimbor, May 29, 1852, in Marytown, Wisconsin. She married Philip John Ditter on July 6, 1871 in Wisconsin, and her younger sister Catherine married Philip's younger brother John in 1877. Her husband Philip died at the age of 42 in 1887 (probably of a swamp disease picked up while stationed in Louisiana during the Civil War). The couple had planned to move to Oregon, so Mary and the children, and her mother, made the move with John & Catherine's family in 1890. John Ditter opened the Ditter Store in Sublimity, Oregon the same year, and in 1893 was appointed guardian of Mary's 5 youngest children. Mary died Nov 17, 1940 in Sublimity and is buried at St Boniface Cemetery.
