Obituary printed in the Elizabethtown News on Friday, January 17, 1908.

Mrs. Matilda Richardson, the wife of the late Jackson Richardson, who was for many years a farmer near East View, died Sunday Morning from cancer of the face. Death came as a relief as the sufferings of the deceased were almost unbearable, but they were borne by the same Christian fortitude that characterised Mrs. Richardson's whole life. The deceased was 83 years old and is survived by five children and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. The interment took place in the family burying ground Monday Morning.

Note: Birthdate on the headstone is off by 23 years, the 1900 census has her birth in 1825 with a month of December, "Historical Sketches & Family Histories of Grayson County, Kentucky" has her birth date at December 8, 1825. The date of death is also off by a year. It isn't a period stone, it was placed in 1977 by her youngest grandson Roscoe Richardson.
