Annie P. Carroll Bond of Stephenville, Texas, sister of my husband's grandmother, kept excellent records of the family. She wrote: The farthest back that I know about was great, great, great grandmother Russell. She came over from England and settled at old Arkansas Post on the Mississippi River. She had two daughters. One of them married great, great grandfather Janes. He had come over from England. They married in 1803, the first white couple to be married in Arkansas post after the Louisiana Purchase. We have a Bible that great, great grandfather Janes' father sent to him from England. The Janes had a daughter named Angela Catherine, I think. She married great grandfather Stevenson & lived in Little Rock Arkansas where he was a judge. They later came to Texas. The Stevenson's had a daughter, Sarah Catherine, I think. She married Grandfather Traller whose parents came from Bavaria, from Bengin on the Rhine. Grandfather was born on board the ship as his parents came to the US from Bavaria, Germany. My mother, Emily Catherine, grew up in Coryell county Texas. She and my daddy were married on November 4, about 1881. They lived in Coryell, Hunt, and Runnels County. I was born at Content, Runnels County, between Ballinger and Abilene.

Catherine Janes was the daughter of William Russell who died 1827 in Lawrence County, Arkansas and his wife Mary (?). Catherine was married to George W. Janes. Catherine and George W Janes are a part of the probate settlement of William Russell. SHE IS NOT A MURPHEE. In 1850 she and her husband George W.Janes are on Ouachita County AR, and in 1860 she is living with her daughter and son-in-law James H and Emily Stevenson in Lamar County, Texas.
