Mrs Isabelle Hammet Garick, widow of the late James Peter Garick, died at her home about 19 miles out from Columbia yesterday afternoon. The funeral will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Richland Presbyterian Church and the interment will be in the churchyard.

Surviving Mrs Garick are two sons, Arthur John Garick and James Peter Garick Jr, of Richland County, and one daughter, Miss Annie Garick of Richland County. Mrs Garick's husband died in 1913. She was a member of Richland Presbyterian church.

Noble Woman Laid to Rest at Richland Church

Mrs Isabel Hammet Garick, daughter of J B N Hammet and Anna Washington Clark, and wife of the late James Peter Garick, was buried at Richland Presbyterian Church January 27 [1922], the Rev R C Reed officiating.

Mrs Garick was born in Sumter in 1846. Her father was J B N Hammet, brilliant orator of the Sumter bar and one of the most successful lawyers of the state. He was captain of his company in the Confederate war and fell mortally wounded at the battle of Secessionville [June 16, 1862]. Her grandfather was the Rev William Hammet, who came from Bermuda to Charleston in 1799. Largely and almost entirely through his efforts was Trinity Church in Charleston built. This man of God and distinguished orator labored faithfully for many years in the City by the Sea, God granting him many souls for his hire.

Mrs Garick is survived by her two sons, Arthur John and James Peter, one daughter, Miss Annie Garick; her brother, Warren Nelson Hammet of Sumter, and her sister, Mrs J B A Williams of Gadsden.
