Ed and Loyce Huddleston, formerly of Bogata, died Saturday, September 09, 2006, in Lake Village Retirement Center in Lewisville.
Joint funeral services are set for 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, at First Baptist Church in Bogata, where they both had been long-time members, with Pastor Richard Wallace of Temple Baptist Church of Lewisville officiating. Burial follows in Bogata Cemetery under the directionn of Wood Funeral Home.
The family receives friends one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born 20 August, 1922, in Fulbright, the daughter of Elmer and Jennie McCaslin Martin. She worked for Westinghouse Lamp Division in Paris for 25 years, retiring in 1982, She graduated from Fulbright School.
He was born 23 September 1922 in Dimple, the son of Will and Mattie Walker Huddleston. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army attaining the rank of Tech Sgt. First Class, He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. For a number of years, he was part owner of a heavy equipment company and later worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Buster Construction Company of Paris. He was a charter member of Bogata Lions Club, Bogata VFW and Paris Elks Lodge. He graduated from Dimple High School. They had resided in Lewisville since November 2002. They married 03 June 1939, in Bogata.
They were preceded in death by their daughter, Gayle Mankins 10 February 1991; their son-in-law, Ronald Mankins 19 December 1996, and their great-grandson, PFC Aaron Mark Hudson who was killed in Iraq 16 April 2005.
Ed was also preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Huddleston 24 December 1996, and a sister, Lagean Freeman.
Together they are survived by their son, Ronnie and his wife, Fay, of Corinth, their grandchildren, Annette Hudson and her husband, Mark of Highland Village, Andrea McKenzie and her husband, Jeff, of Whitney, Mike Huddleston and his wife, Tina, and Amanda Baldwin and her husband, Geoff, all of Denton, and Matthew Ferry of Corinth; seven great-grandchildren, Lezlie Hudson, Michael McKenzie, Matt McKenzie, Brooke McKenzie, Hunter Huddleston, Landon Huddleston and Savannah Baldwin.
In addition, Ed is survived by two brothers, David Huddleston and wife, Eldeva, of Athens, and Bob Huddleston and wife, Bette, of Gun Barrel City; sisters-in law, Bonnie Ruth Huddleston of Bogata, and Wynona Martin of Odessa, as well as brother-in-law, Ike Fennell of Paris.
If desired, the family requests donations be given to the Bogata Cemetery Association, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
