Known as "Maxine," she was married to John Merrill Ricker in 1954 at Fort Bragg. Mr. Ricker passed away in 1992.
She graduated from Methodist College in Fayetteville and received a master's degree in education at University of Southwestern Louisiana. After teaching in Spring Lake and Lafayette, La., she became a program manager with Cumberland County 4-H and with Volunteer Families for Children.
On Dec. 24, 1995, she and Kerry "Lee" Geiger were wed in Spring Lake. Mr. Geiger passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by son, John Merrill Ricker Jr.
Survivors include three sons, Jerome M. Ricker and his wife, Sheila, of Heidelberg, Germany, Jeffrey M. Ricker and his wife, Pilar, of Houston, and Joel M. Ricker and his wife, Chrissy, of Fuquay Varina; two sisters, Helen M. Wilkey, of Vienna, and Pauline A. Hohenberger and her husband, Kirk, of Billings, Mont.; and three brothers, George H. Lord II and his wife, Elizabeth Ann, of Mayfield, Ky., Joseph H. Lord and his wife, Eileen, of Vienna, and Charles A. Lord and his wife, Gail, of Wilton, Maine. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, James M. Ricker, Auturo Perez, Stephanie Perez, Zachary A. Ricker, Annabel J. Ricker, Desiree N. Ricker and Alejandra Perez; as well as seven nieces, one nephew, eight grandnieces and eight grandnephews. She is also survived by many special friends, including Mary B. Magnon and Virginia Ball, as well as special "daughters" including Tina Sullivan, Clara Coniff, Tammy Myatt, Tammy Clark and Sherry Vance; and special "sons" Ronald and Donald Snow.
