John was the son of William Dixon 1716-1764 and Christina Orchard 1723-1779. They came from England on the ship Irene to help prosper the Moravian Church. John's siblings were Christina 1756-1835, Elizabeth 1759-1786, Joseph 1761-1804 and Johann 1762-1832. William and Christina were married 25 Aug 1755 in Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., PA. John is reported to have made shoes for soldiers in the Revolution when he was 14 years old. John married Anna Catherine Williard 14 Sept 1802. Their children were Joseph Frederich 1804-1876, Charles William 1808-1888 and George Christian 1812-1880.
