SAN ANGELO ? Rosella Mitchell Kerr, 78, of San Angelo passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, in Temple.
A wake service, followed by a rosary, will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in Sanderson, Texas.

Rosella was born June 21, 1927, in Ozona to William Carpenter and Ethel Watters Mitchell Sr. She was reared in a wonderful ranching family in West Texas and earned a bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She worked in San Angelo for several years with Dr. ?Gus? Eckhart, Dr. John Oswalt and Dr. ?Gabe? Coleman, and carried great respect and admiration for all of them all of her life.

She married Edward Hudson Kerr Sr. of Sanderson, Texas, on Aug. 4, 1953, where together they managed the Kerr Mercantile Company and a family of five children. She was a loving wife and mother; protective, nurturing and very strong. Her strength was demonstrated in her endurance in raising five loving children, the loss of a beautiful baby boy, and in the last years of her husband?s life in which she stayed by his side and cared for him through his final moments.

She showed enormous love and affection for all of her children and grandchildren all the years of their lives. Her grandchildren were her greatest enjoyment and pride for the last 30 years. She will always be remembered by her family for her lifelong passion for solitaire, crossword puzzles and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son, William Carpenter Kerr, who was lifted by the wings of angels at the age of 2 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosalie Kerr Johnson of Katy, and Jeanette Kim Zachary and husband Wayne of El Paso; three sons, Edward Hudson Kerr II and wife Maggie of Mertzon, Timothy James Kerr and wife Beth, and Thomas George Kerr and wife Amy, all of San Angelo; brother William Carpenter ?Billy? Mitchell and wife Flo of Fort Stockton; and 10 grandchildren, Michelle and Mendy Johnson, Meagan and Jerad Zachary, Ward and Banner Kerr, and Audrey, William, James and Joseph Kerr.

Special appreciation and affection go to Dr. Stephen Smith of San Angelo, Texas, Dr. Mark Lawrence, Dr. Charles Reiter, Dr. Samuel Snyder and Dr. Gary Chune, and all of the staff of Scott and White in Temple, Texas. Your love and caring gave her hope, a fighting chance, and cradled her gently to the outstretched arms of the Lord. She has renewed life with her loved ones. God bless you, and his strong loving hands be with you always.
