Son of Thomas Brooks and Grace ____ Brooks. I am not at all sure that his mother was Grace Wheeler. From an entry on WikiTree -- "Grace Wheeler is not the wife of Thomas Brooks. The only source found for a surname of "Wheeler" so far is a 1948 vanity publication of Dakin Genealogy which states, without source, that her name was Wheeler. Clarence Torrey in "New England Marriages prior to 1700" then included this as one of his sources when listing the surname as "Wheeler" although in brackets and with a question mark meaning not from a marriage record and uncertain. An alternative wife for Thomas Brooks, Grace Cunliffe is supported by a "most probably" statement by John Threlfall which is hardly conclusive, but is at least supported by a baptism and a marriage to Thomas "Bruckes" in Manchester, Lancashire, England as listed on her profile. There is also some confusion over whether Henry Brooks of Manchester, England and Woburn, Mass married a Wheeler which probably adds to the confusion of Thomas Brooks' wife. No evidence has been found to support such a marriage."

Birth and death dates are approximate. He was mentioned as "deceased" in a deed of Aug 24,1697:

Captain Hugh Mason left bequests in his will to his children, including daughter Hannah Brooks. They resided in the part of Concord, that later became Lincoln, where Joshua was a tanner, like his father-in-law Hugh Mason. On November 11, 1695, Joshua, with Hannah's consent, sold his Concord lands to their four sons, Noah, Daniel, Joseph and Job. By a deed dated August 24, 1697, the brothers Noah Brooks, Daniel Brooks Sen., Joseph Brooks Sen., Benjamin Pierce, Benjamin Whittemore, and Judah Potter, conveyed all the rights that Job Brooks had of the estate of his father Joshua Brooks, deceased, to their brother Hugh Brooks. Therefore, Joshua Brooks died between November 1695 and August 1697. Hannah's death is unrecorded. However, there is a record of a Hannah Brooks dying in Concord in Dec 1696, and it is very possible this is the death of Hannah (Mason) Brooks.

He married Hannah Mason on Oct 17,1653 at Watertown,MA.

Children: Noah Brooks, Hannah Brooks Pierce, Grace Brooks Potter, Daniel Brooks, Thomas Brooks, Esther Brooks Whittemore(wife of Benjamin Whittemore), Joseph Brooks, Elizabeth Brooks Dakin(wife of Simon Dakin), Job Brooks, and Hugh Brooks.
