Bank President Passes Away at Age 93

The death of David Faust president emeritus of the Union National Bank, Third, below Market, occurred yesterday morning at his residence, 1506 N. Sixteenth street, at the age of 93 years. He had been connected with the bank forty years.

He was born on a farm near Catasauqua, October 27, 1814. At 15 he was a clerk in a country store. In 1833 he visited Philadelphia, coming by stage at the fare of $3, entered the employ of the hardware firm of Reeves, Buck & Co., and became in time a partner. In 1844 he entered the new firm of Faust, Weinbrenner & Co. The Civil War causing the loss of their southern trade, the firm dissolved, and Mr. Faust became president of the Union Bank, were he remained for thirty-nine years.

Funeral of David Faust
The funeral services of the late David Faust, the widely known business man and financier, who died Thursday at his home, 1506 N. Sixteenth street, were conducted at his late residence by the Rev. Dr. A. J. Mortimer, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Locust, above Sixteenth street.

Many floral tributes were sent by friends and relatives of the aged banker. The honorary pall-bearers were A. B. Cunningham, A. Hagan, Hood Bilpin, W. H. Carpenter, I. J. Dohan, Aaron Gans, Mayor John E. Reyburn and P. H. Conderman. Interment was at North Laurel Hill Cemetery.
