She was born in Cleveland County on March 26, 1925, to Paul Durham and Lucinda Dellinger Blanton.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at First Wesleyan Church, Bessemer City with the Revs. Wes Brown and Dick Whitener officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
Irene was a life long member of First Wesleyan Church in Bessemer City. She was a christian, loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her son and longtime care giver, Jamie Lutz of Cherryville; daughter, Darlene Mantooth of Cherryville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lutz Sr.; four sisters and five brothers.
