Mr. Mace was born March 24, 1924 in Madison County where he had lived all of his life. He was a member of Peek's Chapel Baptist Church. "Doc" was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Tilda Ingle Mace; his wife, Jean Mace; sisters, Rellie Mace Carver, Dalhia Mace Jenkins and Gertie Mace Honeycutt; and brothers, Charlie and Fred Mace.
Surviving is his sister, Flossie Mace Carver of Weaverville; brothers, Ude Mace and wife, Glenna of Mars Hill and Floyd Mace of Marshall and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 12 in Redeemed Baptist Church with the Reverends Jimmy Buckner and Mike King officiating. Interment followed in Peek's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
