Reverend John C. Dodson, 81, died at his home in West Bay on March 13, 2010, after an extended illness. Reverend Dodson moved here from North Carolina in 1955. He was a retired Baptist minister and was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach, Florida. During his ministry he pastored five different churches including Jones Avenue Baptist Church of Easley South Carolina, Faith Baptist Church of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, First Baptist Church of Bascom , North Bay and West Bay. He was a graduate of Florida Theology at Graceville and did extended studies there and Gulf Coast Community College. He is survived by his wife Essie Lea Dodson of 60 years and son, John Samuel "Sam" Dodson of West Bay, Florida. Five grandchildren Faith Mason, Constance Earnest, Levi Dodson, Daniel Dodson, and David Dodson. Six Great Grandchildren Courtney, Evan, Landon, Hayden, Alana, and Levi. Funeral Services for Reverend Dodson will be held in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010, at 3:00pm with interment immediately following in the Lynn Haven Cemetery.
