US Civil War 26th & 15th Michigan Infantry
August 8, 1863, would find the departure of several men in Co. D. of the 26th Michigan: Emanuel Hissong (Hisseng / Hissing) of Ferris Twp, Montcalm County, enlisted in the 26th Michigan on August 15, 1862, at the age of 35. 26th Michigan service included: Camp Jackson, Alexandria, Washington, Suffolk, & the New York Draft Riots. He was discharged at Washington, D.C. on August 8, 1863. His Civil War Pensions were listed in 1880 for the 26th and 15th Michigan Infantry (Service in the Western Theater & Sherman's march to the Sea) where he was listed with wife Eliza and six children living at Crystal, Michigan and is buried in the Ferris Center Cemetery.

Emanuel and Eliza had 10 children. 9 of which I have linked below. In addition they had
