IOWA CITY, Oct. 8.-William Schaapveld, a pioneer of Fremont township, died at his home two miles northeast of Lone Tree, Tuesday evening, Oct. 4, and was burled today, in the Catholic cemetery, near Nichols.

He was a victim of heart trouble, and would have been 62 next month. He was a native of Holland, but had lived in Scott county, Iowa, Muscatine county; and Johnson county, since he was 7 years of age.

His widow, formerly Miss ANNA JEHLE, and five sons
survive.
The boys are all Johnson county farmers,
Joseph, Henry, Theodore, Julius, and William.

One brother and one sister, John Schaapveld, of Lone
Tree; and Mrs. Elizabeth GUERRINK, of Davenport, also survive.
