The daughter of Micajah & Martha (Ramsey) Doty and a direct decendant of Edward Doty who came to America on the Mayflower. She was born April 14, 1826, in Ohio county, Virginia which would become West Virginia at the beginning of the Civil War. She married Edward Gregg, April 14, 1826 in the same place. There she had 12 children: Martha Gregg (1827-1829)

Mary Ellen Gregg (1834-1836)
Amanda A. Gregg Workman (1837-1920)
Elizabeth S. Gregg Powell (1837-1910)

Several family trees have added a 13th child:
Nancy Gregg (1859-?)

In the mid 1850's Edward & Nancy and family first moved to Iowa where the family appears on the 1856 Iowa State census at Harrison, Lee County, Iowa. Then sometime between that year and 1859, the family moved and settled in Adair county, Missouri.
