Served in the Berks County Militia as a Captain during the Revolutionary War.

Jacob son of Jeremiah Shappelle born in Wuttenberg Germany Feb. 5, 1744 died Sept. 11, 1826. A pioneer of Windsor Twp. He worshipped in first log meeting-house in 1761. A member of the building committee for the larger (Zion Church) in 1771. His wife Susanna was born Feb. 7, 1751. Their children - Peter Apr. 19, 1770 - Lieut. Col. Jeremiah Mar. 20, 1774 - Daniel and Hannah

The reverse of this tombstone has a longer inscription, also in English. It is located at the far right corner of the cemetery when facing the church along Zion's Church Road.
