Their wedding ceremony was performed by her father, Jackson, who was also a minister, a doctor, and a school teacher.

Stone Mason & Contractor who build many of Beckley's businesses & dwellings as well as stone abutments, bridge piers, foundations, and coke furnaces.

According to the Beckley Herald newspaper on 1912 concerning the great fire in downtown Beckley, it stated, "The fire of Sunday morning was checked by the excellent stone wall of the Bank of Raleigh building. This wall was built by the late David Robertson whose sterling Scotch honesty will live long in the minds and hearts of those who knew him and loved him. The late David Robertson when he had completed the Bank of Raleigh Building, remarked to more than one person that the wall would "stop a fire right here some day." How prophetic."

The Robertsons were charter members and instrumental in founding the Beckley Christian Church. David Robertson was a charter member of the Beckley Masonic Lodge, and served as president of the Raleigh County Court from 1902 until his death in 1908.
