According to one of the Kirtley's youngest daughters, Jessie (my grandmother), Theodore wanted to stay in Texas and Minnie wanted to return to California. My grandmother said she only assumed that a terrible fight between them probably occurred. In the end, Minnie came back to California with all of the children except Cora (the oldest). They had a total of 10 children.
