Charles was the 6th of seven children born to Bertha Auguste (Belling) and Charles H. Witt. Bertha had a daughter from a previous relationship bringing their brood to eight.

Age 80, he was called to Heaven on April 7, 1994 after a short illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1913 in Appleton and spent his entire life in the Fox Cities. Charlie was a cheesemaker by trade and worked for Butter and Cheese Co-op in Omro. In 1945 Kraft Foods took over and he continued to work as a foreman until 1963, at which time he moved to Neenah. He was then employed by Trinity Lutheran School of Neenah until his retirement. His pride and joy was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, also his flower, vegetable and African Violet gardens. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Knight) whom he married November 20, 1941 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha; they were married 52 years; three daughters: Mrs. Dean (Betty) Curtis, Sr., Menasha; Mrs. Carlton (Nancy) Kirchner, Kaukauna; and Mrs. Dan (Barb) Callaway, Menasha; two sons: Chuck Witt, Jr., Neenah; and Kevin (Sandra) Witt, Neenah. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Dean (Shirley) Curtis, Jr., Douglas (Sherri) Curtis, Vicki Curtis, Marie, Roberta, Ted and Matt Kirchner, Missy, Sara, and Danny Callaway, Jenny and Mike Witt, Eric and Lisa Witt; also five great-grandchildren: Tamara, Justin, Jacob and Tyler Curtis and Angelena Callaway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Witt; three brothers: Raymond, Leo and Walter; four sisters: Mrs. Margaret Schnider, Mrs. Hannah SImon, Miss Mildred Witt and Miss Mabel Witt; a great grandchild, Rebecca Lynn Callaway; two brothers-in-law: Harry Schnider and Carl Simon; three sisters-in-law: Agnis, Pearl and Evelyn Witt. He will be sadly missed by everyone. Funeral services will be Monday, April 1, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah with the Rev. D.J. Englebrecht officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call Sunday (TODAY) at the Westgor Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A memorial has been established.
