Leroy Howland
Mr. Leroy P. Howland, 76, of 731 Rutger street, Utica, died Monday., in St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He leaves two daughters, one of which is Mrs. Anthony (Barbara) Spinella, Clinton. He was born in Yorkville, son of the late Alfred Joseph and Alice Estella Davis Howland. He attended area schools and was married to Betsy Mae Rice, who died in 1952. He was later married to Margaret Morocco Voce, who was the wife of the late Louis Voce who died in 1947. Mr. Howland was a shipping clerk for many years for- Munson Mills, retiring in 1965. Prior to that, from 1933 to 1945, he was employed by the Savage Arms, Utica. He was a member of the Moose Club, the Eagles, the Sons of Italy and a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Besides his wife, Margaret (Michelina), he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Spinella, Clinton and Mrs. Robert (Dorren) Steele of Floyd; two sons, Leroy Howland of Holland Patent and Richard Howland of Greenbush, New York. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the Matt Funeral Home, and at 9 a.m. in St. Mary of Mt Carmel Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Westmoreland Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) 7 to 9 at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger street at Mohawk street.
