Lawrence "Duffy" Dodge

Lawrence "Duffy" Dodge, 93, died on Tuesday, April 28 at the Gregory Wing in Boothbay Harbor.

Born in Newcastle on February 25, 1905, he was the son of Roscoe H. and Mary Wyman Dodge.

Mr. Dodge attended Lincoln Academy and graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston. In 1927 he moved to East Boothbay. He was a Master Joiner and worked in all the shipyards in the area. He was well known for his dovetail hatches, hexagon skylights and wheels.

He was a member of Seaside Grange in Bristol, Lincoln Pomona State and National Grange, and for 13 years was deputy of Lincoln County.

He was predeceased by a son, Lawrence R. "Bud" Dodge.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Frances Webber Dodge of Edgecomb; three daughters, Emma Googins and Mildred "Sue" Bayley, of Scarborough, and Hilda Lewis of East Boothbay; and many grandchildren, great-grand-children, and great-great-grand-children.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 1 at 1 p.m. at the North Edgecomb Cemetery, Route 27, North Edgecomb.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be sent to the Gregory Wing Nursing Home, 3 St. Andrews Lane, Boothbay harbor, ME 04538. Arrangements are by Simmons & Harrington Funeral Home, Boothbay Harbor.
