Clyde died from the Spanish Influenza just weeks after he joined the Army and started training at Camp Custer, Michigan. His death certificate said he died of "Broncho-pneumonia, acute, right lower lobe". The death certificate indicated that the place of death was Charleston Township, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Charleston Twp. is not listed on the Find A Grave town list for Kalamazoo County. Camp Custer (later named Fort Custer) was closed in 1964. The doctor's address on the death certificate shows as Battle Creek, Michigan. I have indicated the place of death as Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan because of this.
