Orangeburg - Services for Bessie Young Thackston, 94, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg with Rev. Dr. Barry Jenkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Edward V. Mirmow Jr., Perry Gervais, J. J. Mackey, Brian Szakovits, Lawrence P. Thackston III and Albert T. Todd. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Dukes-Harley Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Thackston died Saturday morning in the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Born in Charleston Co., she was a daughter of the late Harry Robert YOung and Annie Bunch Young. She was a graduate of the School of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Mrs. Thackston was a charter member of the Thalian Club of the Dogwood Garden Club and was an Accredited Flower Show Judge. She was the widow of Lawrence P. Thackston Sr., MD. Surviving are her son, Lawrence P. Thackston Jr., MD, of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Lynn T. Gervais of John's Island, Cam T. Szakovits of Orangeburg, Gina B. Mackey of Columbia, Lawrene P. Thackston III of Orangeburg; seven great grandchildren.
