Paul Achor, 60, of Rt. 1, Cutler, died
Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 24, 1978, at his residence following an apparent heart attack.
He had been in poor health for 18
months.
Born April 7, 1918, in Howard County
near Sycamore, he was the son of
Orange and Blanche Harper Achor His
marriage on May 4, 1946, was to
Dorothy Huser who survivies.
Deceased was a farmer, school bus
driver for the Burlington and Carroll
Consolidated Schools for 18 years,
Burlington’s first town marshal, World
War II veteran and owner of Achor
Small Engine Repair Shop.
Achor was a member of Carroll
County Civil Defense for 15 years,
Burlington React, Carroll County
Fraternal Order of Police and St.
Joseph Catholic Church of Delphi. A
resident of Burlington for 32 years, he
was a charter member and past
commander of the Burlington
American Legion Post.
Other survivors are two sons, Donald
of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Dean of
Flora; four daughters, Peggy Wyatt of
Sparta N.C.; Dolores Lambert of Minot
Air Force Base, N.D.; Patricia
Mummert of Rt. 1, Bringhurst, and
Pamela Francis of Rt. 1, Cutler; two
brothers, Earl and Wayne Achor, both
of Marion; three sisters, Florence
Calaway of Marion, Lillian Potts of
South Bend and Vivian White of
Kokomo; and 13 grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one
brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at
Neptune Funeral Home in Burlington
with Father Ambrose Ziegler officiating.
Burial will be in Burlington
Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home
after 2 p.m. Thursday. Military
graveside rites will be conducted by the Burlington American Legion Post.
