-- CHESTER - Harriet Howell Stringfellow, 97, died Sat., Aug. 14, 2010, at Chester Regional Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Mon., Aug. 16, 2010, at Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Clint Davis and Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery.

Born Oct. 3, 1912, in Walterboro, S.C., a daughter of the late Madison Peyton Howell and Martha Gage Howell, Mrs. Stringfellow was a graduate of Walterboro High School and Converse College. She was a member of the Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian and a long-time Sunday School teacher of the Jake Colvin Sunday School Class, a member of the Women of the Church and the Colvin Rogers Circle. Mrs. Stringfellow was a former member of the Assembly, the Up To Date Club and the Violet Sunshine Club.

She is survived by her son, Ladson Fishburne Stringfellow of Chester, S.C.; her daughter-in-law, Jerry Barron Stringfellow of Chester; three sisters, Margaret H. McAngus of Greenville, S.C., Martha H. Guess of Denmark, S.C., and Jane F. Hipp of Greenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren, John H. Anderson and his wife, Cheryl, of Raleigh, N.C., Harriet A. Gayle and her husband, Jim, of High Point, N.C., May S. Rhea and her husband, John, of Chester, S.C., Ann S. Ward and her husband, Trey, of Greenwood, S.C., Margaret S. Clayton and her husband, Kelly, of Rock Hill, S.C., Lad Stringfellow and his wife, Paris, of Pendleton, S.C., and Mary Gage Davis and her husband, Ben of Portland, Ore.; and nine great-grandchildren, Meredith and Ladson Anderson, Jack and Harriet Ward, Kirk and Mary Cate Clayton, Lucius and Lois Davis and Fripp Stringfellow.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sun., Aug. 15, 2010, at the family home at Goochland Plantation.

Memorials may be made to the Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church "Renovation Fund" P.O. Box 174, Chester, SC 29706.
