Carl Smith - age 69, of Hicks Drive, Sevierville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday afternoon, Sept 24, 1986, at 5:25 p.m. He attended the New Hope Church of God and was a prominent life-long Sevier County businessman. His major business interest was real-estate sales and development. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Lowe Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim Madison; mother, Mama Belle Smith Walker; grandsons, Dr. Steve and Cheris Madison, Greg Madison; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Dustin Madison; sisters, Mrs. Theo Sims, Mrs. Joyce Catlett, all of Sevier County; brother Stewart Smith of Ohio. Preceded in death by great-grandchild, Brittany Madison. Funeral service 7 p.m. Friday, Oak Street Church of God, Rev. Melvin Whittington officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. John Sims (his nephew) and the Rev. Norman Sims. Interment 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends following the services Friday evening at the church. The family requests that those who would make a memorial gift send a donation to the New Hope Church of God Building Fund, Sevierville. Atchley's, Sevierville.
