Jemima was a daughter of "Smith Creek" John Stockton and Margaret "Peggy" Stockton of Stockton's Valley. She married John Irwin, Jr., on September 28, 1815, at James McDonald's in the State of Tennessee. John Irwin is mentioned in the 1825 deed of "Smith Creek" John Stockton.

John Irwin, Jr., was a son of John and Elizabeth (nee Cunningham) Irwin, Sr. He was born in Tennessee on April 29, 1788, and died on July 30, 1884.

Jemima (nee Stockton) Irwin and her husband, John Irwin, Jr., are buried in Albany Cemetery, Clinton County, Kentucky.

John Irwin's War of 1812 pension application.

State of Kentucky County of Clinton s. s.
On this Twentieth day of April A.D., one thousand eight hundred and seventy one, personally appeared before me J. M. Bristow Clerk, of the Clinton County Court, a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid John Irwin aged Eighty three years, a resident of County of Clinton, State of Kentucky who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married; that his wife's name was Jemima Stockton to whom he was married at in Cumberland County Ky on the 28th day of September, 1815.

Pension application of Jemima Stockton Irwin:
On this 11th day of September, 1884, personally appeared Gemima Irwin, who, being duly sworn, delcared that she is the lawful widow of John Irwin, deceased; that he died on the 30th day of July, 1884; that he had been granted a pension by Certificate No. 4812 which is herewith returned (or if not, state why not) that he had been paid the pension by the Pension Agent at Louisville Ky up to the 4th day of June, 1884; after which date he had not been employed or paid in the Army, Navy, or Marine service of the United States, except that . . .
