Ben Wiley McCarter, age 65 of Seymour, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was a long time resident of Boyds Creek, which he thought was the finest place on earth. Wiley was a retired ALCOA Brickmason. He loved his family, friends, horse, the farm, and his truck.

He was preceded in death by parents John and Eva (Reed) McCarter, brother John (Bud) McCarter, sister Imogene Rigsby, nephew Mike McCarter, niece Teresa Ann Kaufman, father-in-law Dave Gibson, and special friend George Delozier.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years Glenda Gibson McCarter; children: daughters and sons-in-law Patti and John Hite, Kristi and Billy Alam, son and fiancée Ronnie McCarter and Jessica Loveday, daughter Kylie McCarter, and like daughters Donna Gossett Sise and Julie Gossett; grandchildren Aubrey McCarter, Bipol Alam, Madeline and Avery Hite, and baby girl McCarter; brothers James McCarter, Harry (Gordon) McCarter and his children Connie, Tracy, and Kent; brother and sister-in-law Carl and Claudette McCarter and their children Sonya, Cynthia, and Renee; sister Shirley Kaufman and her children Frances and James; sister and brother-in-law Louise and Leon Ledford and their children Leslie, Lynn, and Gina; niece Rita Dills; nephew Eddie McCarter; aunts Agnes Claxton and Mary Ruth Johnson, uncle Winfred Hodges; mother-in-law Eva (Tarwater) Gibson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Betty Gibson; special friends Donnie Clark, Dayton Douglas, Eddie Gossett, Ronnie Gossett, and Steve Murphy.
