MAYODAN | Rigell Knight, 85, of Ayersville Road in Mayodan, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mayodan Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a longtime member, by the Revs. Bill Baulding, Rick Haug and Beth Glass. Burial will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery.
Mr. Knight was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Perry, Fla., to James Knight and Idell Lawson Knight. He was a former employee of Washington Mills with 32 years of service, but was retired from Rockingham County Schools.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Ola Mae Foley Knight of the home; two sons, Edgar Knight and wife, Margie, of Madison and Wayne Knight and wife, Irene, of Lexington; two sisters, Ovenia Brock of Lakeland, Fla., and Myrtice Fowler of Nichols, S.C.; five grandchildren, Robin Graves, Lee Knight, Virginia Knight, Kyle Knight and Karah Easter; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Ray Funeral Home in Madison, and other times at the residence.
