Kingsport - Clara Jones Wexler, 81, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday (March 24, 2009) peacefully at her residence, with her family by her side.
Clara was born in Allen, VA (Dickenson Co.) and had lived in the Fordtown Community most of her life. She was retired and self employed with her late husband, as her own mail route and star route mail contractor. Clara was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville C. Wexler; her parents, Alonzo "Lon" and Hattie Irvin Jones; along with several sisters and brothers.
Clara is survived by her daughters, Jo Wexler, of Kingsport, Janie Hubbard and her husband, Thomas E., and their extended family, of Mt. Olive, AL; one son, Orville David Wexler and his wife, Faye, of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Richard Phillips and Melissa Reading; two great grandchildren, Caroline Phillips and Logan Reading; two sisters, Betty Davy and Joyce Stewart; along with several nieces and nephews.
To whom she was a loving mother and grandmother, a straitening and caring person to all who knew her.
Although no formal visitation is planned the family invites friends to stop by her home at anytime, 1345 Lebanon Road, Kingsport, TN, 37663.
A graveside service will be 2 pm Friday March 27, 2009 at Pond Family Cemetery, Lebanon Road, Kingsport, TN, with Rev. Brian Moore officiating. Music will be provided by Yvonne Jarrett. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:55 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Adventa Hospice, 2612 N. John B. Dennis Highway, Kingsport, TN, 37663 or National Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, FI 17, Chicago, IL, 60601.
