Carmelina was born in Settimo Rottaro near Turin in northern Italy. She came to New York when she was 11 years old and quickly assimilated into the culture of her adopted country. Lina was a seamstress who once made dresses for Wallace Simpson who was to be the future Duchess of Windsor. Her passion was the movies and she became quite an expert in that regard boasting an encyclopedic memory. She met her husband, Nino, in 1952 and became a homemaker to him and their two sons, Vincent and Robert. She took her motherhood seriously and was involved in both her sons lives. She was also a confidant to many of her friends who sought out her advice on a regular basis. Her dark sense of humor was legendary, as was her kindness to people. Her loss after a brief illness was mourned by many.
