ELGIN - Funeral for Olivene Barnett, 86, Elgin, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Elgin.
Mrs. Barnett died Monday, July 6, 2009.
Burial will be at Elgin Memorial Cemetery under direction of Elgin Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Corbett, Texas, to Ulysses and Mary Jane Powers Berryhill. She worked at Lydia Ann's cafe and Tommy Neel's Grocery in Elgin. She was a lifelong member of Elgin First Baptist Church serving many years as church pianist and taught many children in Sunday School. She was involved in the women's ministry groups at church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Janie Barnett, Elgin; a daughter and son-in-law, Velma and Bob Barton, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren and their spouses: Erica and John Johns, Oklahoma City, Racheal and Jake Kuhlman, Cyril; and Lorri Barton, Oklahoma City; and three great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Johns, Oklahoma City; and Austin and Elaina Kuhlman, Cyril.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Barnett; a son, Elmer W. Barnett; and two sisters: Nila Mae Newton and Billye Sue Lathen.
