Hazel Marshall Roach, 80, of Elkton, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, surrounded by her loving family.

Hazel was born Dec. 3, 1930, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Charles and Addie Marshall.

She was a homemaker and a loving mother, and the joy of her life was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandson.

On Nov. 29, 1947, Hazel married John Paul "J.P." Roach, who preceded her in death Nov. 10, 2007.

Hazel is survived by two sons, John P. Roach Jr. and wife, Linda, of Grottoes, and Paul "Shorty" Roach and wife, Marsha, of Elkton; two daughters, Diane Roach Earman of Elkton, and Debra Roach and companion, Randy Shifflett, of Elkton; six grandchildren, Rodney Roach and wife, Lisa, Dawn Good and husband, Steve, Mendy Lamond and husband, Bryan, Jeremy Roach, Misty Morris and husband, Brandon, and Megan Roach; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Good, Steven Good, Colton Roach, Emma Lamond, Evan Lamond and McKenzie Morris; stepgreat-grandchild, Jessica Breeden; great-great-grandson, Brayden Good; brother, Louis Marshall and wife, Frances; sister, Mozell Meadows; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Hazel was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Roach.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Mount Vernon Mennonite Church with the Rev. Al Huyard officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
