She was the wife of WILLIAM DAWKINS "WILLIE" BRASHEARS, daughter of WILBURN G. and SARAH ANN COX GOSNELL, both buried at Cross Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

Spartanburg Hearld Journal, May 7, 1979, page B4. Campobello - Mrs. Lucy Gosnell Brashears, 94, of Route 2, Dill Road, widow of William Dawkins "Willie" Brashears, died Sunday. Native of Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn G. and Sallie Cox Gosnell; member of the Motlow Creek Baptist Church for 45 years. Surviving; daughters, Mrs. Vera George of Spartanburg, Mrs. Ruth Clayton of Morristown, Tenn., Mrs. Mildred Collins and Mrs Elver Bradley of Campobello; sons, Ben and Ernest Brashears of Campobello, and Edward Brashears from Inman; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services 4 today at the Holly Springs Baptist Church by the Revs. Fay Lanford and Calvin Turner; burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Carroll Clayton, Larry Collins, Bennie and Douglas Brashears, Robert Storey, Roland McAbee, Jr. Family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Elver Bradley of Route 2, Campobello. Body in church at 3 today. Wood Mortuary, Greer.
