GREEN SEA | Jimmy Hammond, 70, of the Finklea Community, died Thursday, January 8, 2009.

Mr. Hammond was born in Horry County, a son of the late Martin Durham and the late Roxie Cleo Buffkin Hammond.

He was a retired farmer and former owner of Green Sea Monuments. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Green Sea Baptist Church. He was very devoted to his family and his many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Floyd Hammond of the home; two daughters, Audrey H. (Rick) Blair of Loris, and Stephanie H. (Hamilton) Tetterton of Camden; four brothers, Martin (Pat) Hammond Jr. of Tabor City, N.C.,
Joseph Hammond of Beaufort, Houston (Ethel) Hammond of Pleasant View, and Elery Hammond of Loris; three sisters, Frankie Jewel (Horace) Goins of Georgetown, Bobbie Faye King of Georgetown, and Darcus Ann Bullard of Fair Bluff, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Eloise Hammond; and two grandchildren, Sloan and Summer Blair.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Aaron and Franklin Hammond; and two sisters, Katheryn Mayers and Peggy Jean Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Green Sea Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Nugent officiating. Interment will follow at Hammond Family Cemetery in Green Sea.
