Civil War Union Army Officer. He served as Captain and commander of Company A, 1st New Jersey Militia from April 30, 1861 to July 31, 1861.

He was a tobacconist who resided on Orchard Street in Newark, New Jersey at the time of the Civil War.

On March 31, 1890 his wife, Harriet Brintzinghoffer, filed for a US Army Widow's Pension (Application #418,255, Certificate #286,871).
