William Kuhler, born 1 November 1834, Eberfield, Westphalia, Prussia/Germany to John Wilhelm Kuhler and Mary Catherine Fuerke. He immigrated June 12, 1854 at age 19 from Antwerp to Chicago, Illinois. He worked a while in Chicago and New York and then settled first in Clayton County, Iowa where he farmed and married Mary Elizabeth Hennecke on 13th February 1857. They farmed there, then in Nebraska and later in Chariton County, MO.
