Edith Lestardo Latina Age 76, of New Castle, DE, died at home with her family on Saturday October 16, 1999. She was wife of the late Salvatore A. "Sam" Latina who passed away in 1965. After the death of her husband, Edith began working at the Hotel DuPont as a Coat Check Attendant and later became a Banquet Waitress until she retired in 1986. After her retirement from the Hotel, she continued working part-time for the Brandywine River Art Museum and MBNA America Bank. She also worked for many years as a Home Care Provider for a local Wilmington family. Edith enjoyed volunteering her time with her children at St. Anthony's Italian Festival. She also enjoyed playing cards and watching old movies. Edith always looked forward to her autumn weekend get-a-ways at the Delaware Shore with her 3 sisters-in-law, fondly known as the "Golden Girls". Edith's greatest pleasure was her family, her love and generosity was endless. She is survived by a daughter, Sally Ray, with whom she made her home; and 3 sons, Anthony and Salvatore A. Jr. of Wilmington, Nicholas and his wife, Debbie of New Castle. Her brothers, Dominick Lestardo of Bear and George Lestardo of Newark; 3 sisters, Viola Marcozzi of Wilmington, Lillian Orsetti and Loretta Eckton of New Castle. Edith has 7 grandchildren and a great Granddaughter. She was sister of the late Eugene A., John A. and Ronald J. Lestardo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 20 at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and DuPont Street at 12 noon, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Highway, Newark.
