Austin Estes, 28, of Troy, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 13, 2009, in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Austin was preceded in death by his father, Mike Estes, in June of 2008.

He is survived by his mother, Janie, and his brother, Richie, both of Troy. Also surviving are his aunts, Lynda Daugherty, Peggy Furrow, Marty Dozier, Dorothy Lowe, and Wanda Miller; and his uncles, Tommy Perry and Marcus Boyd, as well as numerous cousins.

Austin was a veteran, having served three years in the United States Air Force, including five months spent in South Korea. Austin loved all sports, but most especially UNC sports, as well as NASCAR races.

There was a private memorial service on Sunday, April 19, 2009, conducted by Pastor Bill Willis.

The family requests that any donations be made in Austin's memory to Alpha Acres Christian Recovery Center c/o The Winston Salem Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 20424, Winston Salem, NC 27120-0424.
