Victim of the munition ship explosion at Port Chicago, California.


Leroy, who was stationed at the US Naval Barracks, Port Chicago, died in a huge explosion as two ammunition ships were being loaded. See the Port Chicago Sailor memorial for the Golden Gate National Cemetery for more information about the accident and ensuing mutiny. Altogether, 320 men perished in the explosion.
