Mrs. Guffey was born in Greenleaf, Kan., and was graduated from Greenleaf High School. She received a teaching certificate from Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kan. She was a business machine operator for the Stow Hardware Co., in Kansas City, Mo., and was a school teacher in rural Washington and Linn counties, Kan. In 1949, she moved to the Breckenridge area.
Mrs. Guffey was a 74-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Grandview Extension Club, Over the Tea Cups Club and the Grandview United Methodist Church.
In 1925, she married William S. Guffey in Kansas City, Kan. He died in 1973. Mrs. Guffey was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Robert and Alan, both of Breckenridge, and William of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Janet Greenwood of Breckenridge and Marie Welborn of Anaheim, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
