VIRGINIA DAUGHERTY Virginia "Kay" Daugherty, 88, passed away March 28, 2009.

She was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Tyler, Texas, to the union of Purthina Carptner and Taylor Edwin King.

Virginia had been a resident of Las Vegas for over 50 years. She retired from Paulson Dice and Card Company as a dice maker.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Club and the Fordyce Club-Las Vegas Chapter. She loved fishing, gardening and playing poker.

Later in life, she looked forward to talking and having coffee with friends. We will all miss her greatly.

Virginia was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, John W. Daugherty; stepson, James L. Daugherty; and son, Lester B. Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her adopted daughter, Willie Daugherty; six grandchildren, Rodney Jackson, Pamela Jackson, Rose Mary Daugherty, Amanda Daugherty, Trinity Smith and Alita Requena; five sisters, Lillie Mae Shackleford, Florence Hawkins, Vivian Johnson, Stella Jackson, and Nadine King; four brothers, Sam Jackson, Roosevelt Petty, John Henry Jackson, and Johnny Paul Pullum; one uncle, Coltquitt King; one aunt, Roberta Ingram; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and great friends.

Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Thursday, April 9. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 10, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
