Conrad Yeager Answers Summons
Conrad Yeager a well known citizen of this place died at the home of his son Peter Yeager in East End at 8 o'clock Thursday evening of last week from diseases incident to old age. He was aged eighty-three years, five months, and eleven days. Mr. Yeager was born in Lima, Germany and came to this country with his parents when he was seven years of age. His parents settled in Little York, Pa and later removed to Hart's Sleeping place in Carroll Township when this place was nothing but wilderness. Later they moved to Elder Township.
Mr. Yeager was first married to Miss Mary Woodley in St. Joseph's Church in Carrolltown Township on September 1, 1867 and to this union four children were born. His wife died in 1865 and on July 16, 1866 he was again married this time to Elizabeth Waltz, the ceremony being performed in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. To this union five children were born.
Several years ago Mr. Yeager's second wife died and he came to Hastings to make his home with his son where he died.
Deceased is survived by the following children:
Peter Yeager, of this place and
Mrs. Charles Anna of Elder Township, by his first wife; and
Lewis Yeager of St. Boniface,
Joseph Yeager of Johnstown,
Albert Yeager of Akron, O,
Jacob Yeager of Loretto by second wife.
Funeral services were held in St. Bernard's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Monday morning and interment church cemetery.
