Nellie was the daughter of Joseph Houdeshell and Hattie Edwards. She married John Potts at Sac City on Dec. 12, 1901. They were the parents of Ena, Faye, Rhoda, Hattie, Furdie, Chester, and Cory.

Carrol Daily Times Herald - Monday , May 22nd, 1972 - LANESBORO — Mrs. Nellie Potts, 88, of Lanesboro died at the Golden Years Nursing Home in Lake City Sunday morning, May 21. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Huffman Memorial Chapel, Lake City, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery.

Mrs. Potts was born at Newark, Ohio, June 7, 1883, a daughter of J.W. and Hattie Edwards Houdeshell, and came to the Lake City area in 1892. She married John Potts at Sac City Dec. 12, 1901.

Mr. Potts died Jan. 1, 1969. Also preceding her in death were an infant son, two sisters and eight brothers.

Mrs. Potts is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Cleo (Ena) Heller of Fonda; Mrs. Gould (Faye) Lasher of Lake City; Mrs. Lyle (Rhoda) Dankel of Eldora; and Mrs. Ray (Hattie Bell) Wiekman of Long Beach, calif.; two sons, Furdie Potts of Fort Dodge and Chester Potts of Lakewood, Calif.; 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Inez Houdeshell of Lake City.
